I've spent many a blog raving about Travis Rice and THE ART OF FLIGHT and his Supernatural Contest. And he's the best snowboarder in the world right now, there's no doubt about that. But perhaps I haven't given enough attention to Brain Farm Cinema, the production company blowing minds with the visuals, camera trickery, and cinematography never seen before much less in extreme sports videos. But that's just it, they're transcending tradition, they're shooting the most visually stunning images on the planet (which makes their relationship with Rice that much sweeter - it's like Terence Malick and Martin Scorcese combining to shoot a movie starring Leo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp and Daniel Day Lewis) while eschewing the mainstream limitations usually put on such skilled artists. Other cinematographers kowtow to the Hollywood line for a house in the Palisades while Brain Farm is happy shooting simply the most amazing shit on the planet and going home to the life-affirming Tetons in Jackson.
