The future of Basketball is a 6'3" Asian-American from Silicon Valley?

Knicks ticket prices are already seeing an increase in value. Whether you bought season tickets as a fan or as an investment, you’re starting to see gains. The reason is as surprising as Tyler Perry being rich. It’s not because of Melo, Amare, or Chandler and it has nothing to do with Schumpert, Bibby, or Jeffries. The reason comes from a 6’3” Chinese American point guard whose life does not scream NBA all-star. Jeremy Lin came from Palo Alto, a child of infamous Silicon Valley, better known for its Technology dominance than for making jocks. He then went on to a college that creates financial gods, real estate moguls, and political leaders, but what it does not do is create pro athletes, especially NBA’ers.

Jeremy Lin, the Asian Sensation, was not recruited to play at college. The Pac- 10 teams and a lot of other schools wanted him to walk on besides Harvard and Brown, both of which offered him a spot on their Ivy League teams. He took Harvard from the basement of the Ivy (Yea, there are Ivy League teams that are rock bottom compared even to other Ivy League teams) and got them to dance. He came into the national spotlight with his decisiveness, court sense, shooting, and unpredictable first step. He had a pretty impressive college career and has finally exploded into the top of the Q rating system.

After bouncing around the NBA and being essentially a human cutting block, he landed on a team that truly desired a PG. The Knicks were on a destructive path, heading towards the demise of a team that had the skill to go deep in the dance. The season happened and the Knicks decided to teach everyone a lesson. They proved all analysts wrong by playing like shit. They had no rhythm, Amare was off, and Melo thought it was time to continue his trend of not passing. It became a debacle that created rumors that encompassed Mike D’Antoni getting beheaded, but then came the savior who stepped out on the court as the first Chinese American to play in the NBA. Jeremy Lin has arrived and the world better be watching.

While at the helm, the "Yellow mamba" (controversial nickname notwithstanding) has taken New York on one helluva ride. He has lead the Knickerbockers to a 5 game win streak all while getting the shit knocked out of him. He is already bandaged, bruised, and what appeared to be sexually molested on the court, but he still plays with a boyhood exuberance lost in the world of money, corruption, gambling, and chicks. You should watch some interviews with D’ Kid. He is humble as can be and was living on his brother’s couch, a dental student at NYU, after getting brought over by the Knicks. He finally received his contract on Tuesday for 800k and is currently playing at a higher level than this bottom barrel pay check. Oh, and by the way, the Knicks are on this streak without their two best players, Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony. They seem to finally have a player who can distribute the rock, push his teammates to excel, and cares about the stats of his teammates more than himself. Sorry Melo, but it looks like your selfish ways are done. Next article is the comparison between Linning and Tebowing, but in the meantime, let’s throw some stats around.

In that 5 game win streak, Jeremy has averaged 26.8 points, 8 assists, and 4.2 boards which is not terrible for a point guard. He has a mysteriously blinding first step, the strength and height to take abuse, and drive to push them to a win. Let’s hope he keeps it up because he’s making people interested in a season that shouldn’t even count. Only time will tell if we found a new Steve Nash.
