Lock-Street Week 13 12.2

Green Bay Packers (-7.5 ) vs. the Minnesota Vikings

Rodgers is going to come out this week like Mia Wallace after an adrenaline shot to the heart. He’s pissed by his performance last week and desires retribution like any All-Pro QB does after being throttled by the Giants in the most lopsided loss by the Packers in almost 5 years. Adrian Peterson has returned this season with an unbelievable year where he is the leading the league in rushing (1236 yards), and both Hee-Man Clay Matthews and run-stopper extraordinaire CJ Wilson are both most likely out this week, but all they will do is keep 7 to 8 in the box in order to stifle the Vikings and their offensive predictability.

Christian Ponder might have model like looks, but the poor guy is still not meeting expectations. He’s not good nor is he the future. Percy Harvin might finally return, but if he does, he will still be hampered by that ankle injury. Their passing game is completely stagnate without Harvin (677 yards and 3 TD’s) and while Kyle “The Reindeer” Rudolph at TE has been playing better than expected (7 TD’s), they just have no consistent options. The rank a pathetic 30th in the NFL in passing yard.

So Cedric Benson is out for the rest of the season for the Packers but this guy has been playing football since the Bush administration, THE FIRST ONE. It’s not that big of a deal. Alex Green is quick but what makes this offense so indestructible is the arm of Mr. Rodger’s. He’s playing at Lambeau, better known as his neighborhood. He finally gets his big gun back with the return of Greg Jennings and when combined with such weapons as Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, and James Jones, Jermichael Finley should finally have the game he has been looking for all season as the Vikings corners (Ranked 13th in opponent passing and 15th in opponent rushing) will be as clueless as Lindsey Lohan’s lawyers.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Diego Chargers (+1.5)

The Chargers are in desperate need for a win. They are so desperate, Norv Turner has sold his soul to the devil. I mean why else do you think the guy is still a coach? Sure they might be out of the playoffs, but this is a team that plays well when they are hopeless. It is truly difficult for a team traveling from the EST to play a game in PST, as mentioned by Ray “Hey Diddle Diddle” Rice. The Chargers had the opportunity to win last week and they blew it, but they will be coming out as fired up as ever. Their only shot now is to win out and have some teams lose.

So the Charges have lost their top two tacklers, Atari Bigby (68 tacklers) is out for the rest of the season while leading tackler Donald Butler (72 tackles) is out with a groin injury. Darrell Stuckey (hamstring) will most likely be out and Jared Gaither, their left tackle, was placed on IR. Their offensive line is as useful as Poland’s army. Sure they'll be playing against an animal in AJ Green (Leads the league in receiving TD’s with 10), but the Bengals have the ability to deconstruct as proven by their inability to go 2 consecutive years to the playoffs. The law firm Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis is having a solid year rushing for 767 yards and 5 TD’s. He broke the 100 yard mile stone each of the last two weeks.

The Chargers offense should not be this bad. Once they get into a rhythm, Rivers and crew can make any team sweat. Their issues this year have been Philip’s picks, ball security, and dropped passes, which means that any game where they do not turn the ball over, they can stay competitive. They have big receivers in Malcolm Floyd, the aging but still affective Antonio Gates, and next year’s sleeper fantasy pick Danario Alexander. These guys apparently know where to find a breeding ground for giants or trolls. They still have pro bowl safety Eric Weddle. If Ryan Matthews, Jackie Battle, and Ronnie Brown can just hold on to the ball, they should have one of the most dynamic running crews in the league. Watch as the Chargers play up to their potential FINALLY and upset the hot-Bengals. It's ashame it's in San Diego, because it would have been sick to see a Freezer Bowl reenactment

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys (u 43)

The NFC East is riddled with the stank of underachievement. Is there any division in sports as overhyped as this one every preseason? I mean seriously. This division gets more discussion at the beginning of each year than any other in the NFL. There's actually only 1 other division with less combined wins, the AFC West ( 20 wins to 16 wins). So maybe the Eagles forgot how to play defense, but they will still play hard against their rivals, the Cowboys. On the other side of the ball, Vick is out again with a concussion. DeSean Jackson was placed on IR with a multiple Rib Fractures and LeSean MacCoy might be sitting out again due to post concussion symptoms. The way the Eagles are going, eventually everyone on their team will have the first name of Sean with two letters prefacing it.

Without going into much detail here, both teams blow. Statistically, they both are safely tucked away in the middle of the league. The Cowboys defense though is not terrible as they're 9th in opponent passing and 13th in opponent rushing. Offensively, they are actually 2nd in passing yards, but are in last place in rushing yards. The Eagles defense ranks in the middle of the pack as they are ranked 14th in opponent passing and 18th in opponent rushing yards. All and all, this should be a sloppy game that might gross you out as much as The Walking Dead.
